đ¨ Comcast Email Is Migrating to Yahoo: What It Means for Outlook Users
Starting in June 2025, Comcast has begun transitioning all @comcast.net email accounts to Yahoo Mail. This change affects how your email syncs in Outlook, Thunderbird, and other third-party clients. If you’re seeing new credential errors or sync delays, you’re not alone.
Here’s what you need to knowâand how to fix it.
đŚ Whatâs Changing?
- Comcast is shutting down its legacy email servers and moving all accounts to Yahoo Mail by June 2026.
- Youâll receive two official emails from Comcast: one announcing the migration, and another asking you to accept Yahooâs Terms of Service.
- Once migrated, your email will be hosted by Yahooâeven though your address still ends in
@comcast.net.
đŹ New IMAP/SMTP Settings for Yahoo Mail
Once your account is migrated, update your Outlook settings as follows:
| Protocol | Server | Port | SSL | Authentication |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IMAP | imap.mail.yahoo.com | 993 | Yes | Yes |
| SMTP | smtp.mail.yahoo.com | 465 or 587 | Yes | Yes (App Password) |
Important: Youâll need to generate an App Password in your Yahoo account to use with Outlook or Thunderbird.
đ ď¸ Still Having Sync Issues?
If Outlook still wonât sync after updating your settings, try this proven fix:
đ Follow this guide to delete your RoamCache folder and reset Outlookâs cached credentials.
đ Watch for Phishing
- Only accept the migration via official Comcast emails.
- After migration, log in at login.yahoo.com using your Comcast email.
- Look for the verified Xfinity logo in Yahoo Mail to confirm authenticity.
